With this Package, you will trek the Gorillas and Hike Mount Nyiragongo. It includes one night stay at the top of the Volcano, one night at Mikeno lodge and one night at Bukima camp. It departs from Goma at 11:00am usually on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Day1: Cross Goma border.
Get prepared very early in the morning such that you cross the border at 10:00am and check-in at the Virunga offices by 11:00am.The office is located in Goma border post building opposite passport control room.
Here you are issued with the Gorilla trek and Nyiragongo permit, after you are transferred up to Bukima tented camp. When you reach Bukima camp, you will be served with lunch and after you are free to relax.
Day2: Gorilla Trek in Virunga.
In the morning after breakfast meet the ranger guides at Bukima Ranger post. A briefing is first conducted and after the trekking starts in a group.
You will walk in the Jungle for some good time until you discover the location of these apes. One hour is allowed in their presence and after return to Bukima camp for a shift to Mikeno Lodge.
Relax and later in the evening you can do other activities like bird watching, visit the Swekwenkwe orphanage center and more.
Day3: Nyiragongo Volcano Hike
Early in the morning at 8:15am tourists are transported to Kibati Ranger post, the starting point for a journey to the top of Nyiragongo. After briefing, the Journey starts and you will be at the summit in the evening. It takes about six to seven hours.
Day4: Descend back to Kibati
After one night at the top, next day is for coming back. Transfer up to Goma border for a breathtaking drive back to Kigali.
